Say Rimini and SMILE!

Bike Tour - Along the ancient via Emilia

The Via Emilia (Aemilia) was and still is an ancient Roman road built between 189 and 187 a.C. by the consul Marco Emilio Lepido, (probably on an existing track), during his first consulate, to connect directly Rimini with Piacenza, for about 262 km. Today we will cycle north with the goal Cesena (Caesena), founded on the ancient Via Emilia by the Romans, during the construction of the same. The modern route of the Via Emilia, has a high rate of traffic and for this reason, we will travel parallel roads that connect us to Santarcangelo, Santa Giustina (Cercine della Regina), San Mauro Pascoli (furnace Villa Torlonia), Savignano sul Rubicone (Ponte sul Rubicone) and finally Cesena, built in the network of the Roman centuriation with ancient origins of the city developed between the hills, the banks of the Savio and the decumanus of the Via Emilia. After visiting the city of Cesena, the return will take us to the Adriatic coast to cycle along the Uso river cycle route from Bellaria to Rimini and connect to the Marecchia river.
