It is possible to find both free beaches equipped with minimum services (showers, access platforms and lifeguard service) and unequipped ones. All this is always a short distance from hotels, restaurants and shops.
The most popular free beach is the one in Marina Centro at Piazzale Boscovich, in the harbour area. During the summer, numerous events are organised here and on the square in front of it is the large panoramic wheel from which you can have a view of the entire Romagna Riviera and the city from above.
Since 2014, on the free beach in Piazzale Boscovich, the service run by the Ondanomala onlus association has provided a beach chair (Sedia Sole Mare) from the Adjutor orthopaedic workshops, to enable wheelchair users to reach the water easily, even at the end of the walkway.

The equipped free beaches in Rimini are provided with showers, toilets, lifeguards and platforms at the entrance.

- San Giuliano Mare (northern Rimini), from the Darsena to the former bathing establishment no. 10
- Rimini Marina Centro, Piazzale Boscovich in the harbour area, before bathing establishment 1
- Miramare (southern Rimini) after bathing establishment no. 150 and up to the Rimini Terme thalassotherapy centre

The free, unequipped beaches are more suitable for young people and those who like to enjoy the sea without pretension or comfort.
They can be found in northern Rimini at:

- Viserbella between bathing establishments 71 and 72
- Torre Pedrera in Via Tolemaide, in the direction of Bellaria Igea Marina
In south Rimini at:
- Rivazzurra between bathing establishments 106 and 108
- Rivazzurra in the area behind bathing establishments 109 and 110
- Marebello between bathing establishments 105 and 106
